😱 I Was Still a Virgin at 26, and Dad Always Warned Me, “Stop Sitting on Grandpa’s Lap and Be Careful Around Him.” I Never Listened… Until Grandpa Came to Me One Night and Asked, “Will You Sleep Beside Me Tonight?” 💔 I was twenty-six years old and had never been intimate with a man. It wasn’t something I was ashamed of. I had dated a little, but I had never met anyone I trusted enough to take that step with. Strangely, my father seemed more concerned about the way I behaved around one particular man. My grandfather. Grandpa George had practically helped raise me. When I was little, I followed him everywhere. Even after I became an adult, I would hug him, lean against his shoulder while we watched television, and sometimes jokingly sit on his lap for a photograph like I had done since childhood. Dad hated it. “Emily, enough,”

I stopped.

Inside were two separate narrow beds.

A large telescope stood beside the window.

On a wooden table were dozens of old photographs, letters, a video camera, and a thick photo album.

There was also a small suitcase.

I looked at Grandpa.

“What is all this?”

He sat down slowly.

Dad remained near the doorway.

Neither man seemed willing to speak first.

Finally Grandpa pointed toward the album.

“Open it.”

The first photograph showed a young woman about my age.

For a second, I thought it was me.

Same dark hair.

Same smile.

Even the shape of her eyes looked familiar.

“Who is she?”

Grandpa smiled.

“Your grandmother, Rose. She was twenty-six there.”

My exact age.

I turned the page.

There were photographs of Grandma and Grandpa sitting on a porch.

Another of them beside an old car.

Another showed Grandma asleep in a chair beside a hospital bed.
